Starting from April 2021, Keitaro is ISO/IEC 5230 self-certified. When working with an OpenChain ISO/IEC 5230:2020 compliant supplier, businesses and organizations can be certain that they will not be exposed to any Open Source vulnerabilities and risks. By following this standard, Keitaro has an excellent set of practices, policies, and procedures in place to ensure that the purchased solution was designed to satisfy the license specifications, and that documentation will be provided to ensure that both sides are in compliance. This significantly decreases uncertainty and streamlines the purchasing process.
What is Open Chain?
The International Standard for open source compliance ISO/IEC 5230 was published by the International Standards Organisation on December 14th, 2020 and formalises OpenChain as an international standard.
OpenChain is the world’s leading programme for open source software compliance. It is a project of the Linux Foundation, and establishes a framework for licence compliance for Open Source software. Being ISO/IEC 5230:2020 certified ensures that the solutions follow the OpenChain standard and that Keitaro`s practices and procedures are reliable and implemented by all the industry standards. Keitaro supports all supply chain participants to adopt OpenChain and ISO/IEC 5230 so that we can all work together to strengthen the supply chain trust.
Open data portals empower organizations
For those who aren’t already familiar with the Comprehensive Knowledge Archive Network (CKAN), it is the leading tool for making open data websites. Think of it as a content management system like WordPress – but for data rather than for web pages and blog posts. It helps to manage and publish collections of data. It is used by many national and local government agencies and offices, research institutions, and other organizations that collect and share a lot of data.
Once the data is published, users can use its faceted search features to browse and find the data they need and preview it using maps, graphs, and tables – whether they are developers, journalists, researchers, NGOs, citizens, or even your staff.
Data management portals are undeniably beneficial for organizations in our present big data era. It might seem a daunting and time-consuming task to transfer all data sets and it might cause a bit of business disruption, but the end results are very advantageous for organizations.
While the list of benefits for any organization is huge, a few of them are effective data integration, long-term management benefits, improved productivity, efficient data governance and competitive advantage.
Keitaro is a leader in developing, maintaining and supporting data management platforms using CKAN and our team has delivered over 50 successful data projects in the last five years alone. Moreover, Keitaro is a strong supporter of the CKAN project as a code contributor and actively participates on the CKAN Core Team.
